COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL CENTER
Open on the Richelieu River, the project is designed to create a place promoting exchanges around sports and cultural activities. The bias was integration into the place and into the community, all inspired by the heritage of the site previously inhabited by the oldest canoe club in Quebec.
The sloping shape of the roof and veranda evokes the traditional image of canoe clubs, while the integration of light enlivens the interior spaces opening onto a spectacular view of the river.
A fluid course embellished by games of footbridges and ground lifts, promote the integration of the building into the landscape.
This LEED GOLD certified project presents a contemporary and commemorative architectural feature which, combined with basic notions in bioclimatic, effective and respectful ecological principles, a choice of noble and recovered materials, make it an innovative, efficient and sustainable building.
