Montreal QC . Canada
2015 - ongoing
11,350 m2 / 122,170 ft2
Located on the Pointe-du-Moulin pier in the old port of Montreal, the Ecologia project's proposal is to make it the tallest building with a solid wood structure in the world and a North American precursor in terms of development. sustainable.
The massive wooden structures are visible from the outside and give a dynamic character to the project. Dependent on the forces exerted by and on the building, the structural frames of this envelope are an integral part of the architectural language of the project.
A high-performance envelope, such as a dress acting as a filter, will allow control of the contribution of natural light and will act as a sunshade. In addition to considering an avant-garde strategy in terms of height with a solid wood structure, the Écologia project offers a curtain wall system and wooden windows with triple glass, a hydrothermal system, heating radiant, a gray water treatment system and the incorporation of indoor greenhouses that will promote air purification. The symbiosis of all these principles aims to provide autonomy of 300 days by and allowing to raise public awareness of sustainable development.
