RESEARCH CENTER
The project consists of designing and building a cutting-edge multidisciplinary intelligent net-zero energy (BENZ) building research center in collaboration with researchers from Concordia University on the Loyola campus site.
The research objectives are aimed at the development of new building and energy production technologies. The design of the building should make it possible to explore lines of research such as the interaction between the different types of envelope assemblies and mechanical systems, intelligent building automation and building information systems, or even building information systems. integration and interaction of renewable energy production.
Smith and Vigeant's experience in green building design, integrated design, and our strong technical team have met the exciting challenges of this research facility.
The building's energy footprint is optimal.
Its materiality has been chosen to harmonize the aesthetics, durability and intrinsic energy of its components. The structure and cladding use exclusively locally sourced wood. Metals and recycled and recyclable materials ensure the robustness and hygrothermal integrity of the envelope.
