CONGRESS PALACE
CONTEXTUAL AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS
Client: SQI
Montreal, QC. Canada
2018
SVA was commissioned to carry out a historical and heritage analysis of the Palais des congrès de Montréal. On the strength of the work done, we were then tasked with carrying out the real estate analysis; by evaluating the contextual and functional aspects impacting the expansion of the Palais des Congrès de Montréal. The objective of the mandate was to ensure the identification of architectural issues that will impact the opportunity file (OD) in its budget estimate. At the same time, it was necessary to ensure that the architectural options presented could achieve unanimity in order to obtain a strategic consensus with all the stakeholders associated with the project; PCM, Ville de Montréal, ministries and other organizations such as Héritage Montréal.
The Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal plans to double the size of its main exhibition hall. The study served to specify all the needs of the Palais des congrès de Montréal and to develop architectural solutions that best meet its expansion project in a context of integration into the city's urban development plan. The development of a detailed layout option was carried out with site plan, distribution of functions on the different floors, calculation of areas, perspective and 3D renderings of the volume in its context.
