CLOCK BEACH

PROPOSAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLOATING POOLS IN THE OLD PORT

Client: SVA Initiative

Montreal, QC. Canada

2014

The proposed development of the Clock Tower in the Old Port of Montreal is a response to a citizen's request for access to water. Continuing with the already developed project, the intervention proposes the addition of a set of floating landings integrating water basins and swimming lanes.

While the site is surrounded by the river, there is a notable lack of connection with it. The extension of the quay makes it possible to integrate thematic water basins accessible to the public.

The tiered arrangement strengthens the connection with the water by allowing the citizen to approach the level of the river. In addition, along the quay, two modular and adjustable swimming lanes offering lengths that can vary from 30 to 200 meters add a sporting aspect to the place.

The objective is to offer visitors and residents a place of relaxation and leisure integrating aquatic activities in the heart of the city while improving a development already popular with its users.
