NEW ARTS PAVILION
This new theatre is part of a compre-hensive renovation and expansion project of the Notre-dame-de-Lourdes College facilities. This cultural space, made up of a 225 seat auditorium, a meeting hall, dressing rooms, a green room and a new entrance, can accommodate large-scale presentations and also boasts sophisticated equipment that enables the school to host professional performances.
The concept of the dancing like structure and of coloured light beams animating the interior walls with light displays give the project a unique signature.
During the day, the sun filters in through coloured fissures of glass, creating an effect similar to a light machine while at night, the light from the inside activities streams out towards the city.
Priority was given to the use of wood as construction material, as much on the interior as the exterior, due to its durability as well as its acoustic properties. The natural warmth of wood is highlighted in this project and creates a unique and attractive character.
