Located on the edge of the Lachine Canal in the former silos of the Redpath sugar refinery, the Allez-Up climbing center is part of the heart of the revitalization project of Southwest Montreal.
Inclined, vertical or overhanging, the climbing wall is the central element of the project. The surfaces are pierced by huge windows allowing natural light to enter the building while allowing the interior climbing walls to shine through, a true colored heart under the metal shell.
The project involved several challenges such as the presence of contaminated soil, the upgrading of dilapidated structures, and their adaptation to new functions, as well as the need to take into account the heritage interest of the site.
User comfort was a major design concern and led to the implementation of principles of natural ventilation, an air filtration system and a thermal inertial heating system, minimizing the accumulation of heat in the air. top of the climbing walls.
