FUTURE LIVING SPACE
COMPETITION
Canada
2018
The future complex is made up of highly customizable accommodation.
It offers tenants a new living experience with the possibility of sharing certain spaces, creating real social links with their neighbors,
and live in harmony in a healthy and sustainable environment.
In this new living experience, the apartment allocation process will be done via an online platform, where the future tenant will be asked to answer a series of questions about their preferences and needs. The algorithm will then propose the perfect unit to him by adapting the area, orientation, layout or furnishings. The application will also have questions on the personality of the future tenant, the type of social
the interaction he is looking for, what space he would be willing to share and which he wants private, etc. These questions will allow the algorithm to match him with future tenants with whom he is likely to get along or share certain skills with him.
At any time the tenant can update his profile, report changing needs or a problem with another tenant so that arrangements can be made. The future complex will use advances in artificial intelligence and data collection to provide each tenant with a truly personalized experience.
This customization will be made possible through the use of modular elements. The wall partitions will be made of smart fabrics which can for example change color on demand or react to ambient temperature or sounds. Bedding and seats will be inflatable and can be easily stowed away when not needed.
Hard furniture will be modular and could be rearranged to serve multiple purposes. The unit will be fully connected. Not only will the tenant be able to control the lighting, shading or temperature from his smartphone, but also adjust the position of the panel partitions or the configuration of the furniture. In addition, the health monitoring systems will be connected to the user's smartphone and will be part of the architecture.
The building and each unit will meet the highest standard of sustainability and offer a better quality of life. The structure of the building will be made of wood, a renewable material recognized for its positive impact on well-being and which also offers the advantage of prefabrication, thus reducing construction time and facilitating customization. An emphasis will be placed on vegetation, so that tenants can reconnect with nature in an urban environment. Plants will contribute to the well-being of tenants through their beauty and their function as air purifiers. The building will also be equipped with bioluminescent plants (plants that naturally emit light), which will be a source of zero energy lighting and amazing with their truly unique aesthetics.
