NET ZERO BUILDING LOCATION ON THE CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
Concordia University wishes to implement a Zero Carbon and Zero Energy building on the Loyola campus, designated “The Green Sphere”. The purpose of the study is to determine the feasibility and parameters of the project, in support of the search for funding and by ensuring a documentary base in the event of the announcement of a government research support program.
The university can develop a project as of right on the site of a former PS building, located in the northeast corner of the Campus. The study included, the heritage and town planning analysis, the analysis of the electromechanical systems in place, the development of a functional diagram illustrating the main components of the project and the local relations (laboratories, classrooms, technical spaces, offices), the detailed space list; the site plan;
the landscape and parking plan; floor plans (blocking space); perspectives and renderings (3 options developed); presentation of the different approaches and appropriate sustainable development certifications and technical and financial implications: LEED Gold V4 or Platinum; CGBC Zero Carbon building standard; developing green design strategies for zero carbon and LEED certification, assessing the potential for adaptive reuse of existing elements of the PS building (former Loyola College arena); estimate of construction costs.
