Year
2019-2020
ÉTS selected our firm to provide architectural services for the integration of the former Dow Brewery into the school’s campus, as part of the preparation of an Opportunity Study (DO).
SVA was commissioned to develop a contextual and functional analysis to plan the expansion project by proposing various phasing and densification scenarios, as well as determining potential connection solutions with the main building—either through an underground link or an aerial passage.
Our mandate includes the complete development of the functional program, which will serve as the foundation for the subsequent design stages of the project. Over the coming years, the goal is to identify the objectives, orientations, and needs of all departments and services to make possible the transformation of the Dow Complex.
In parallel, we produced multiple scenarios to integrate the parametric program on the site—one based on current zoning regulations and another on actual functional needs.
A total of ten massing studies were carried out to explore the site’s development potential according to parameters established with the client, including heritage considerations, circulation, parking, architectural connections, public space, and issues specific to ÉTS’s operational needs.
This work was conducted in collaboration with several key stakeholders, such as the SQI and specialized consultants in urban planning, heritage conservation, archaeology, and structural engineering.
