Redevelopment and Expansion

Élan Elementary School, built in 1963, is located in the Plateau–Mile-End district. The work included replacing windows and exterior doors, restoring the exterior masonry, and upgrading the steel exterior staircase leading to the rear courtyard to meet current standards. On the façades, additional lighting was installed to improve visibility around the building.

The main entrance was also enhanced by replacing the corrugated metal cladding above the doorway with a deep aqua-blue glazed ceramic finish. A non-compliant emergency staircase was replaced with an architectural stair that enlivens the kindergarten courtyard — encouraging children’s motor development as they climb up and down while playing.
