For the St. Joseph School project, the firm was tasked with developing various expansion scenarios following the acquisition of the neighboring building, the Henriette-Moreau Lionais House, a significant architectural landmark within Montréal’s built heritage.
The chosen solution for revitalizing the site was to restructure the interior of the block. New access points and more fluid circulation were created by opening the site to the surrounding streets and introducing a new passageway between the buildings.
The architectural treatment selected for the new volumes was designed to align with both the school’s modernist character and the house’s traditional expression. The existing interior spaces, redeveloped to house the library and media centre, provide an inspiring new setting for learning and a prestigious image for the institution.
The project’s specific characteristics required in-depth and complex studies, as it was subject to numerous heritage, regulatory, and construction requirements.
