The Allez-Up climbing center exemplifies an outstanding approach to architectural adaptive reuse, transforming former industrial silos into a major recreational facility at the heart of the Lachine Canal district. Delivered by Smith Vigeant Architectes, the project encompasses the full scope of professional services, from preliminary studies to construction supervision, including integrated design and multidisciplinary coordination. Located within the former silos of the Redpath Sugar Refinery, it is set within a complex heritage context requiring a sensitive and rigorous intervention.

The project is distinguished by the enhancement of existing structures, the integration of a new volume, and the management of significant technical challenges, notably soil decontamination and compliance upgrades for public use. Developed through an integrated design process, it fostered close collaboration among stakeholders to optimize architectural, environmental, and functional solutions. The climbing walls, the core of the project, rise within a space flooded with natural light, creating an immersive experience where industrial heritage meets contemporary vitality.
