Overlooking the Richelieu River, the project was designed to create a place that fosters exchange through sports and cultural activities. The guiding principle was integration with the site and the community, inspired by the heritage of the location, once home to Québec’s oldest canoe club.
The steeply sloped roof and veranda recall the traditional image of canoe clubs, while the play of natural light animates the interior spaces, opening onto spectacular views of the river.
A fluid pathway, enriched by walkways and landscaped slopes, helps embed the building within its natural surroundings.
This LEED Gold–certified project combines a contemporary and commemorative architectural approach with fundamental bioclimatic strategies, efficient and respectful ecological principles, and the use of noble and reclaimed materials—resulting in an innovative, high-performance, and sustainable building.
