This 34-unit housing project is divided into three distinct blocks to create a human-scale and distinctive architecture.
Departing from the typical typologies of multifamily housing slabs, our proposal integrates harmoniously into the urban landscape of René-Gauthier Boulevard, with pitched roofs echoing those of the Jacques LeMoyne Library in Sainte-Marie.
The design is based first on separating the seniors’ residence, thereby avoiding major structural work while creating an accessible green space to compensate for the loss of pétanque courts, which are being replaced by parking.
In addition, the project demonstrates imagination in its form, organization, and expression. Its roofs and the color palette of its materials are designed to spark the curiosity of passersby.
The placement of windows, carefully oriented, enlivens the façades and gives them a unique, vibrant personality. The serpentine layout of the building creates a slender, fluid form, bringing an aesthetic that is both contemporary and rooted in vernacular context—all contributing to an architecture that is welcoming and human-centered.
