62-Unit Residential Building

Year

2019 - in progress

The four-storey building includes 62 housing units composed of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments (3½, 4½, and 5½).

The units were designed for families, with the goal of facilitating access to quality housing.

The building was constructed using prefabricated components, which required close and precise collaboration between the architects, engineers, and the manufacturer.

Site integration posed significant challenges, as the property is adjacent to a popular bike path and faces a childcare center (CPE).

Stéphan proposed a U-shaped layout along the linear park, allowing for a more refined treatment of the side wall facing the promenade. In addition, the setback from the lot line created a landscaped buffer zone, offering a larger vegetated area. The façade features openings that help animate the relationship between the building and its surroundings.

To reduce the perception of mass, the façades were articulated through varied volumes and a thoughtful arrangement of exterior cladding materials.

The site was originally occupied by an obsolete community facility. Stéphan coordinated the demolition process, including consultations with local residents’ committees.
